Wouldn’t it be nice if you could see exactly what your home improvement project would look like – on your house?

Do you ever watch Designer’s Challenge on HGTV? The way it works is a couple want to make over a particular area. They bring in 3 designers, give them the same challenge, same budget, and the designers each come back with a rendering of their design. Then, the homeowner chooses. This is where we realized that we need to offer this service for our clients.
What you see above is an actual job in Rolling Meadows in Burleson, TX. We do this for every one of our clients. When we originally visit, the homeowner’s tell us exactly what they are looking for. Well, sometimes, they don’t know exactly what structure they want to build. The homeowner’s will tell us things like:
- I’d like a larger patio
- I’d like a large covered area
- I’d like an entertaining area and a sitting area
In reality, both of these are good. We want to hear exactly what the homeowner is looking for. But we also want to hear what their goals are – shade, feel of the space, color scheme, etc.
Then, we will point out building and design considerations and questions that we are able to bring to the table with our building experience. For example, we ask questions like:
- How would you like to tie this structure into your existing roof line?
- How much sun protection do you really want? Full protection or partial protection?
Not only have we built hundreds of projects in the Arlington/Fort Worth area, but we have spent a lot of time with homeowners before, during and after their projects are complete. Like a Realtor, we listen very closely to every comment and work to interpret goals and ideas into design reality.
When a homeowner calls us about a room addition, a patio, screened porch, covered patio or other job, we visit the homeowner and spend time listening. Together we go to the back of the home and listen some more. Then we take measurements and photos and start to work. With our architectural rendering software, we use images of the owner’s actual house and build the project on the screen before we ever pick up the first hammer.
Sometimes the owner is thrilled the moment they see the design. Often they want to tweak one of the components of the idea. We are happy to do that. As you can see above, what we build looks exactly like the rendering. So the owner is able to have the confidence and peace-of-mind in knowing and receiving exactly what they expected.
Here’s a little more about this build in Rolling Meadows. This owner wanted a larger outdoor living area and also wanted some space under cover and also space that was not under cover.
We build a large patio with a covered portion and also an uncovered portion.
Here are more details about this build.
- sidewalk back to driveway
- combination of brick and stone on columns
- seating area between 2 of columns – 18” tall sitting area for entertaining more people
- ceiling fans to circulate air under the covered patio
- same roof as house, blended into house to make it look like original part of house
- flood lights for lighting to light up backyard
- custom stonework for landscaping bed with stone steps going down to yard
- 4 x 8 Masonite sheets in covered patio ceiling
Here’s one detail that’s very important when building a covered structure. You want the structure to look original to the home. Take a look in the picture below of the covered patio roof and the home’s roof. You will notice that they look exactly the same – down to the roofing tiles and pitch of the roof.
You will also notice that the brick matches the brick used on the home. The owner did not have brick left over from the build. We take these small details very seriously searching for exact matches to your home’s materials to make every detail look like your structure was part of your original build.
